The exploitation of children through child trafficking is an outrage that affects every country of this world. Every year, hundreds of thousands of children are smuggled across borders and sold like commodities.  It is estimated that 45,000 to 50,000 of 400,000 child prostitutes in the United States were trafficked here for that purpose.  In New York City alone, there are thousands of children who have been brought here illegally to work in prostitution or in some other form of human enslavement.  Exploitation and abuse of these children is rampant, their health and survival are threatened, and they are deprived of their rights to education and healthy childhood development. This outrage must be stopped.
